REGULATION (EU) 2020/740 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 25 May 2020 on the labeling of tires with regard to fuel efficiency and other parameters, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009 , mandatory for use in EU countries, came into force on May 1, 2021 and regulates labeling in the form of a sticker for tires of classes C1, C2 and C3, which contains information about the main characteristics:
● fuel efficiency class (rolling resistance coefficient);
● wet grip class (wet grip coefficient);
● external rolling noise class (noise level emitted during rolling).
In addition, the label contains a QR code for each tire type identifier with a link to the EU Product Database (EPREL), and may also include icons related to tire use in severe snow conditions (3PMSF) and/or traction. icy conditions (only for C1 tires).
This Regulation does not apply to:
(a) off-road professional tires;
(b) tires intended for installation only on vehicles first registered before 1 October 1990;
(c) temporary spare tires, type T;
(d) tires with a rated speed of less than 80 km/h;
(e) tires with a nominal rim diameter of not more than 254 mm or 635 mm or more;
(f) tires equipped with additional devices to improve traction properties, for example studded tires;
(g) tires intended only for vehicles intended exclusively for racing;
(h) used tires, unless such tires are imported from a third country.
