Certificates and documentation

In the EU, it is mandatory for tire products to comply with the requirements of the Uniform Regulations concerning the approval of tires (UN Regulations).

UN Regulation No. 30 applies to new pneumatic tires intended primarily, but not exclusively, for vehicles in categories M1, N1, O1 and O2.

The rules do not apply to tires intended for use on older makes and competition vehicles.

UN Regulation No. 54 applies to new pneumatic tires primarily intended for vehicles in categories M2, M3, N, O3 and O4. However, the Rules do not apply to tire types designated by speed category indices corresponding to speeds less than 80 km/h.

UN Regulation No. 117  apply to new pneumatic tires in classes C1, C2 and C3 with regard to their sound, rolling resistance and wet grip characteristics (wet grip). The rules do not apply to:

- tires designed for use as a “temporary spare tire” and marked “Temporary use only”;

- tires with a nominal rim diameter code of ≤10 (or ≤254 mm) or ≥25 (or ≥635 mm);

- tires intended for competitions;

- tires intended for installation on road vehicles not belonging to categories M, N and O;

- tires equipped with additional devices to improve driving performance (for example, studded tires);

- tires designed for speeds less than 80 km/h (speed category index “F”);

- tires intended only for installation on vehicles first registered before October 1, 1990;

- professional all-terrain tires.
